Our Story.....
We started our rescue in 2010 and worked with many transports some better then others. We then decided that we wanted to transport our VIP pups to the standards that made Pack Leaders Rescue of CT an admired charity. So this is our story.....
An Idea is Born....
We had several options of the type of vehicle to purchase. We decided that we liked the RV plan best because we would have the most exposure to the animals. So we purchased a 39 foot A class motor home. This would allow us to continually observe the animals as well as, take care of their needs such as cleanliness, temperature, Etc.
The project begins....
The retro fit begins with totally gutting a perfectly beautiful RV. Electrical, furniture, plumbing, floor and walls needed to be completely converted.
Crating it up.....
Next it was time to add the shelving system and 4 different size airline crates. We chose the safest most comfortable crates available at the time (We recently have converted them...Wait till you see the new Transport).
Time to Travel....
After transporting thousands of animals to their furever home and learning a lot about transporting we decided it was time for an upgrade.......
PLR Transport evolves.....
In 2017 we purchased a brand new C Class 31XL Motor Home with the help of our signature partner PetSmart Charities. Then we began the 5 month conversion.
Where to build it...
Turnpike Motors Autobody! What an amazing company! From the owner to the professionals that worked on the vehicle they were amazing. Herve was the project manager for us. He and his staff made our vision come to life!!!! Marty the senior office manager was incredible to work with and is an inexhaustible advocate for animals. The company is a great advocator for animal rescues and other amazing causes. We can't thank them enough!!!!
World class crates...
New transport deserved the safest and most comfortable crates we could find. Ruff Tough Kennels (Now Ruff Land Kennels) was a no brainer! These one piece crates are super strong. The lipped flooring allows the pup to stay as dry as possible. Doors open either way and are easily removed for easier entry and exit. This top of the line crate allows our VIPs the dream ride they deserve!!!
Furever 1 is ready...
Furever 1 was completed with all the amenities we could think of. Indoor/Outdoor heated pet showers to keep our VIPs as clean as possible. Freezer/Frig for meds and other pet needs. Pet Cabin climate control. Speakers throughout the vehicle to play relaxing music during the trip. Over head sleeper for our Chauffeurs. A pet cabin jumpseat for the on duty cabin observer to ensure 24/7 observation of our travelling companions.
